New 800 W DC-DC Converter Module Features Dual-Outputs to Save Cost and Board Space

Tempe, Ariz. [9 April, 2015] — Artesyn Embedded Technologies today announced a new dual-output 800W DC-DC converter, the AGF800-48D3005, which offers high-efficiency and excellent thermal performance to telecom and server computing applications. Two outputs, one at 30 V and the other at 5 V, eliminates the need for a second module, saving cost and space on the PCB.
Housed in a full-brick format, the new dual-output AGF800 unit offers 93.5 percent typical efficiency and a 2:1 wide input range of 36 to 75 V. It can deliver up to 23.3 A output current for the 30 V output and 20 A output current for the 5 V output.
An aluminum baseplate structure enables the module to operate between minus 40 and plus 85 degrees Celsius ambient temperature, and can continue to operate at full power up to 100 degrees Celsius baseplate temperature – all without air cooling. The Artesyn dual-output AGF800 module offers a wide trim range of 20 to 33 V output for the nominal 30 V output and 3 to 6 V for the nominal 5 V output.
Other features include remote control and remote output sense; and protection features such as input under voltage protection, output over current protection, output over voltage protection, and over temperature protection. No minimum load requirement helps to increase reliability and contributes to an MTBF of 2.8 million hours (calculated according to Telcordia SR-332-2006).
