Artesyn Announces 45 Watt USB-PD 3.0 Type-C DoE Level VI/CoC V5 Tier 2 External Power Adapter

Tempe, Ariz. [February 22, 2018] — Artesyn Embedded Technologies today announced the DA45C Series AC-DC power adapters, which combine high efficiency and rapid charging in a small package with USB-PD (power delivery) 3.0 Type-C output connector. The DA45C has four output voltage levels - 5, 9, 15, and 20 volts - and output current of up to 5 amps, enabling an output power of up to 45 watts that can be used to charge laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other USB-PD compliant consumer electronics. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMS) can use these new wall-mount adapters to meet the Department of Energy Level VI and European Code of Conduct (CoC) V5 Tier 2 Directive efficiency standards. These standards aim to reduce waste energy from external power supplies both from no-load and normal operation.

The Artesyn DA45C Series features extremely low standby power of less than 75 mW at 5 Vdc and high average loading efficiency of more than 88 percent at 20 Vdc. These adapters have reinforced insulation of 3000 Vac RMS and additional safety features such as protection from over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature conditions. Housed in a compact 58 x 40.2 x 27 mm package (without pins), the external power supplies are available with pins for sockets styles for the USA, Europe or China. Safety and EMC approvals include UL 60950-1 and 62368-1, TUV, CE, CCC, PSE, and NRCAN.
